You will need to
bring the following:
Bring your child with you. All applicants must be administered the
academic screening.
Your child’s original birth certificate
Your child’s up to date immunization record
Proof of address in the parent/legal
guardian’s name (OPPD, MUD, Cox or Century Link bill, letter from Nebraska
Health & Human Services, or lease/purchase agreement)
Income
Verification: Proof of Family Income for the previous 12 months (2019),
including TANF/ADC, SSI, Child Support, 1098, 1099, 1040, 8453, all 2019 W2s,
12 months of check stubs, and/or letter from employer.
Please note: Our preschool program is funded by state and federal
grants that require us to select students based on a number of factors.
Applying for our program, does not guarantee that your child will be enrolled
for the 2020/2021 school year.

Early Release Procedures
OPS Families: As winter continues, we want to remind you
that we have two new options in our winter weather toolkit. The evening before
a weather event, Omaha Public Schools may call for a two-hour late start or a
two-hour early release if weather is predicted to affect part, but not all of a
school day. We shared information about the new options earlier this year. OPS
would communicate the schedule adjustment by phone call and email, so please be
sure your student’s school has your current contact information on file. Please
do not block calls or emails from OPS, as you may miss important messages in
the future.

We are kicking off our Kids Heart Challenge
program (formerly Jump Rope for Heart) on February 14th We are thrilled to
participate as we work together to raise money for the American Heart
Association and learn how nutrition and being active can help us live longer,
healthier lives.
Through the Kids Heart Challenge, we are
going to talk about three things:
1 Habits to keep our hearts healthy
3 Encourage everyone to take the challenge to adopt one of three healthy
habits
This year we are excited to welcome the Heart Heroes to our
school. Over the next few weeks, the
characters will share important messages about keeping their heart healthy,
building self-confidence and helping others.
The first step is getting your student registered and taking a challenge. When they register, they will receive their
free wristband and join the Heart Heroes!!!

This
Title I School-Parent Compact has been jointly developed with parents
and outlines how parents, the entire school staff, and students will
share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and
the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a
partnership to help children achieve the State’s high academic
achievement standards. At the annual parent-teacher conferences, the compact shall be discussed as it relates to the individual child’s achievement.
As a school, we will:
1. Provide
high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective
learning environment to enable children to meet the challenging state
academic achievement standards.
2. Regularly communicate with parents on their child’s progress.
3. Demonstrate professional behavior and positive attitude.
4. Teach in a way that embraces differences in learning styles.
5. Create a supportive and effective environment where students are respected and feel confident to take risks as a learner.
6. Provide
opportunities for families to be involved in school decisions,
volunteer in school functions, and receive strategies to help students
be successful.
As a family, we will:
1. Communicate and work with teachers and school staff on an ongoing basis to be involved and support my child’s learning.
2. Support
our child’s learning—attend conferences and school functions, volunteer
in their classroom, participate, as appropriate, in decisions related
to their education, and guide positive use of extracurricular time.
3. Make sure my child is at school every day and on time, unless he/she is ill.
4. Support
our child by monitoring his/her progress, checking regularly for school
communication, and ensuring that all homework is completed.
5. Work with the school to ensure that our child’s academic, social, and physical needs are being met.
6. Maintain
open communication with the school by asking questions about any areas
of concern and informing the school about any pertinent student
information that will help promote a productive learning environment.

Parent Right To Know Clause At
the beginning of the school year, any District that accepts Title 1 ,
Part A funding must notify parents that they can request information
regarding their child’s teacher and his/her qualifications, including
certification and endorsements. Parents can also request information
about paraprofessionals working with their children. Nebraska requires
that Title I schools must also provide each parent a timely notice that
their child has been assigned, or has been taught for four or more
consecutive weeks by a teacher who is not No Child Left Behind
qualified.
