Minne Lusa Happenings for the week of August 19

It is the mission of Minne Lusa Elementary School, in partnership with families and community, to provide rigorous educational opportunities in a safe and secure environment.

We are so excited to welcome our Early Childhood students to Minne Lusa starting Monday, August 19th! Here is a throwback picture of me when I started school. I recall starting everyday with two barrettes and returning home with only one at the end of the day!

Early Childhood students may enter the building using the 28th Street doors beginning at 8:35 a.m.

For anyone arriving after 8:50 a.m., we ask that you enter through our main Ida or Whitmore Street entrances and check in at the main office. 

The safety of your child is our number one priority at Minne Lusa. We will be practicing our school-wide safety drills this week. These drills help us prepare for an emergency and to react quickly and efficiently. Below is the Standard Response Protocol that is used for all emergency situations in all Omaha Public School buildings and facilities. We thank you in advance for your support and cooperation and please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about our drills.

Upcoming Dates

• Friday, August 30th- Early Release Day – 12:30 PM – Lunch will be served
• Monday, September 2nd - Labor Day – No School
• Wednesday, September 4th - Parent Engagement Meeting - 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM 

Minne Lusa Daily Schedule

8:00 a.m. Administrators and Secretary on duty

8:30 a.m. Safety Patrols arrive at assigned posts

8:25 a.m. Teachers on duty

8:35 a.m. Grab N Go Breakfast begins

Students will not be allowed in the building before 8:35 a.m.

8:50 a.m. Tardy bell – Classes in session

8:50 a.m. Breakfast program ends

4:05 p.m. School dismisses

4:15 p.m. Patrols off duty

4:25 p.m. Teachers off duty

4:30 p.m. Administrators and Secretary duty ends
